Defence R&D Canada's foundation is built on a rich history of defence science dating back to World War I. Since then, Defence R&D Canada has become a leader in science and technology for national defence and public security. The agency also became one of the first federal science and technology organizations to implement its own environmental policy, entitled Greening R&D.
